Is AutoWatch only for Jamaica?

For Phase One (1) Yes. The current AutoWatch service is designed for Jamaica, then the rest of caribbean in Phase two (2).

Do I need a police report before I can activate an alert?

No. An eligible verified owner can activate an AutoWatch theft alert without waiting for a police report. Owners should still report vehicle theft to the police as soon as practicable.

Can anyone report a sighting?

Yes. A person does not need an AutoWatch account to submit a public sighting for an active alert.

Does AutoWatch publish my ownership document?

No. Ownership evidence is private and is not displayed on the public vehicle alert.

Can AutoWatch identify a suspect from a photograph?

No. AutoWatch does not use photographs to identify alleged offenders or determine criminal guilt.

Should I follow a vehicle I think is stolen?

No. Report what you can safely observe and avoid pursuit or confrontation.

What happens when the vehicle is recovered?

The owner can mark the alert recovered, ending the active public lookout and allowing the recovery to be recorded appropriately.

Can I install AutoWatch on my phone?

Yes. Supported devices can install AutoWatch as a web app and eligible users can opt in to vehicle notifications.

Are public sightings verified?

A sighting is a lead, not proof. Sighting information should be assessed together with other available information and shared with law enforcement where appropriate.

Does AutoWatch replace the police?

No. AutoWatch is a vehicle-alert and community-sighting platform. It does not replace law enforcement or emergency services.
