See it. Report it. Do not approach.

Learn how to report a possible stolen-vehicle sighting to AutoWatch without approaching, chasing or confronting anyone.

Your safety is more important than the sighting

If you think you have seen a vehicle listed on AutoWatch, report only what you can safely observe. Do not follow the vehicle, block it, confront the driver or attempt to recover it yourself.

Never turn a sighting into a chase. A vehicle can be replaced. Your safety cannot.

What to notice

  • the plate number, if visible;
  • vehicle colour, make and model;
  • the exact location or nearest landmark;
  • direction of travel;
  • the approximate time;
  • visible distinguishing features;
  • a photograph only if it can be taken safely and lawfully.

How to submit a useful report

Open the matching AutoWatch alert and use Report Sighting. AutoWatch records the time of submission, accepts location and direction information, and can accept an optional image for review.

Keep notes factual. For example, “white Toyota sedan travelling east near Papine” is more useful than assumptions about who may be driving or why the vehicle is there.

What happens after you submit

The sighting becomes a lead associated with the active vehicle alert. The owner can review the information and use it to support follow-up with law enforcement. Public sightings should always be treated as unverified leads until independently confirmed.

Help the right people see the right information

AutoWatch works best when vehicle information is accurate, sightings are reported promptly, and everyone keeps safety first.
